Happy New Year Folks!

Hi all! What's new, what's up?? I'm so glad today is friday. I'm ready for a weekend. I'm going to paint and chill and chill and chill....

C's in arizona this week with J. They are dirt biking, street biking (they rode to California to see the ocean, how cool!) and whatnot. I can't wait to see him MoNday.

I think I'm going to see Memoirs of a Geisha tonight. I read the book, hopefully the movie will be good. It looks like there's a lot of eye candy visuals in it. de-Lovely.

Anyone want to do a swap with me?? I'll trade a painting for some other piece of art or craft. Let me know. I've been doing swaps through Purple, Pink and Orange, but I thought I'd see if anyone else out there reading my blog (ha!) wanted to swap.

I saw a friend from North Carolina last night. It was really cool catching up. Just remember, not everyone is as nice as it is outside. haha!

Alright peeps, have a great weekend!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

I've been a crazy person lately (as i'm sure lots of folks have been), so not much on the blogging front.

I'm looking forward to doing some baking and kickin' back with the family. **ahhhhhh***

I've got my friend J's snowboard bag and fancy schmancy goggles so I should be a rockstar on the runs. ha! riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

One of the swaps I participated in had several people who didn't send swaps out, but received one. The punks!! So I offered to do another one, despite not really having the time. I hope Y likes her package!

And double bonus, not only is this my Friday, but C and I are going swing dancing tonight. good times...

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

What a nice horoscope!!

Wednesday, December 7, 2005

My Horoscope for today:

Balancing what you want and need with selfless good deeds is one of your specialties, and the good karma you've been cultivating is about to come back around in a very nice way. A long-distance connection or someone from your past might suddenly help something very sweet to land in your lap, or a person close to you may do you a big old favor completely out of the blue. Knowing you, you'll keep the excellent energy flowing.

Isn't that nice?? :) I'd like to think that I'm that lovely of a person.... ha!

It's snowing like CRAZY here. I hope I get to go home early!! SNOW DAY! I might have to dust off my sled for this weekend... A little snow practice before I head to the mountains next weekend for some SNOWBOARDING! Life is so good... :)

The Swap Present I got in the mail...

I got my swap in the mail: A lovely scarf and pumpkin pouch and a purple flower pin. So lovely. Thank you B! I'm wearing the scarf today and loving it. :)

The concert last night was fabulous and I saw a bunch of people there I knew. Supersucker cancelled which is a bummer, cuz I've never seen them, but because they cancelled the show opened with Drakkasauna, a funny little two person band which was really good. So it worked out good... :) Met someone who also liked Flogging Molly and he told me to check out the Fast Food Junkies.

Here's a picture of the swap package I sent. Hope you got it and enjoyed it S!
Magpie Skinny Painting, Corduroy Roy the Owl, Snowman Stickers, a lavendar sachet and a teacup with candle.

And here is a picture of my coolio bedframe and night stand my Dad made me, that is sporting my lovely urban outfitter duvet cover (sans my very warm down comforter) and my lovely new green sheets.
Urban Chic bedframe. :)

I need to get busy hanging some art... I'm just still putting stuff away at this point. :) And I need to start my Christmas shopping and creating. Oye vey!

Happy Friday!

No swing dancing last night, my dance partner's been outta town this week. *sigh* But I got my rockabilly fix by listening to br549 last night and I'm going to see Reverend Horton Heat and Split Lip Rayfield tonight along with the Supersuckers. Wahoo!!!

I did a bunch of little paintings on Sunday while watching Nat'l Lampoon's Christmas Vacation with Little M. AFTER we went shopping. It was a good day all in all. Rounded out by some delicious Chinese food. umm....

I have to work this weekend... I'm really kinda dreading it. Ah well, that's life right??

I've listed one of my paintings on Etsy. Check it out, or buy it if you wanna.... ;)

No art today...

This day is flying, I've been so busy... I just wanted to type in a bit of something on my blog. :)

I was mentioned on Jorge's blog Oop. He's in Madrid Spain, I'm immensely flattered. He said my animals are weird. I love it! haha!

Now I'm ready to get in the Christmas spirit... :) Put up the tree and all that jazz. And the lights... looooove the Christmas lights.

I had a dream last night that I was hanging out with my friend R. He's been gone for 4 years now, I can't believe it. I miss you R, you were a wonderful, sweet guy with a great laugh.

Now I think I'll tell you about the Christmas movies I'm going to watch to get in the holiday spirit:

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Home for the Holidays -- about a woman's dysfunctional family
Christmas Story -- a kid wants a Red Ryder bb gun for x-mas, old school, but hilarious... a lot of great moments. :)
Donovan's Reef -- This is an old John Wayne movie set in Hawaii

That's all that come to mind... Any suggestions??

Went to coffee with a sweet friend of mine yesterday and then had dinner with another good friend. Good day all around.

I'm really excited for Thanksgiving. It's partly seeing everyone, family and friends, but it's also the food. I love turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, stuffing and pumpkin pie. Sometimes I feel like I could live on it, probably not really, but every now and then it sounds like a little slice of heaven...

Check this out:

Orriettacat did some cute renderings of Hansel and Gretel-- Guess Gretel is peeved. heh heh... :)

Anne Julie at Deviant Art makes sweet stuff...

And I love this painting and this painting by Krecha at Deviant Art... Especially the bird one... I'm all into birds lately.

And this one and this one from Sanja at Deviant Art. Apparently I'm into bats lately as well...

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had great weekends, I know I did. Too short as usual, but oh well...

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is this week?? Unbelievable how time flies. Yeesh.

Can you also believe that I have moved 19 times in the past 10 years?? 15 new places (as some of the moves were back home--like in college and etc.) wow.

That brings total moves to a whopping 25. In 3 different states and 7 different towns so some of the moves were in the same town at least.

I went to Conneticut with a friend several years ago and we met a boat maker who'd never been out of sight of land on a boat. And he'd never been further west (driving or otherwise--not talking boats any more) than like Detroit or something wild like that. I can't even imagine. Different strokes for different folks eh?

Went swing dancing last night, it was a lot of fun... I gotta say I was reluctant to go for whatever reason, but had a great time as usual. The Rumble Jetts were playin' up a storm and our instructor Ben was a dancin' fool. There were a lot of new people there for the class. Too fun! :)

Tonight I have a busy evening of crafting ahead of me. I signed up to do a craft swap through pinkpurpleandorange.com and I have to send it out very soon. I had every intention of not procrastinating, but the move threw me off. ;) That's my story and I'm Stickin' to it!

Happy Thursday everyone!

The unpacking continues, although I have made some decent progress. My sis-in-law brought me a bunch of plants last night to watch for her while she and my bro and my fat little nephew Buzz are away. It's nice to have so much greenery.

No fish casualties so far, although one of the Von Rio Tetras is swimming at a 45 degree angle. Maybe he just needed a new perspective on life.

The Moving Saga Nears the End

Tuesday, November 8, 2005

Well, I'm done MOVING my stuff, now I just need to unpack it all and buy a couch.... :)

I'm digging my new place. It's cute and warm (unlike my last apartment. I froze last winter and spent any time at home wearing many layers, scarves and gloves-- my roommate was always makin' fun of me. *hmph*)

I moved the fish tank over last night. I hope that I won't have any casualties due to the move...

Monday, November 7, 2005

Well, it's Monday again folks. :) I'm nearly done moving, still have to get the fish tank. Then all I have to do is unpack. UGH! I'm planning on donating a bunch o' stuff to the Salvation Army, cuz I don't need all that STUFF!

Now about this ring... I don't know why, but I think it's just lovely. I know, it's REALLY gaudy and quite spendy ($2,800) and I wouldn't wear it because it would probably get caught on stuff... but I do love it... *sigh*

Went to C's bonfire Sat. night and had loads of fun. D had a telescope and we saw Mars, Saturn, O'Brien nebula, Andromeda Galaxy and the Chicken Leg constellation (unless that was a joke, but it did look like a chicken leg. :) Hats off to the bucket!

I gotta get on that. I even bought some fleece lined bike pants. I'm all set! Bike geek, computer geek, book worm. wow, i'm cool.. ha!

I went to the roller derby Saturday. What a hoot! It was Heaven vs. Hell. Heaven's team was decked out in white and gold and Hell's team was all vamped up in black and red... :) It was pretty entertaining. They really do knock each other down, throwing elbows, etc.

Then yesterday I went to see my sister in law and my adorable chubby nephew, who is 4 mo. now I believe. We took him to the park, he likes to sit on your lap and swing. The whole time we were out walkin' he was really quiet just looking around and taking it all in. He's a sweetie.

Watched Grey's Anatomy last night... I figured Derek would stay with his wife or something. It'd take away from the drama for them to get together...

They had a movie short before it with the penguins from Madagascar, which was too cute. The penguins were cursing, but saying stuff like, "Hoover Dam!" "Shitake Mushrooms!". Ha! Love it!

Check out Kung Fu Cowgirl's stuff. She makes some adorable/funky/weird purses and whatnot. ;)

I went to see Serenity last night, pretty violent, but all in all I liked it. I like to see girls kickin' booty!!

I sure could have used another weekend day. I was awoken in the middle of the night to scrabbling in the wall behind my head. I live in a garden level apartment and that wall faces dirt or whatever is behind our apartment. I think there is a squirrel in the wall of the apartment. I heard it finally get up to something and then run east and it chattered a bit. ugh. I like squirrels, but not living in my walls!

I got it Friday, but was out with friends, ate at my favorite Chinese restaurant and then I went on the Pub Crawl for Cancer yesterday, whew! I'm chillin' like a villian today. :)

I went to breakfast this morning with my good friend Big Larr. I gave him a gummy nose that was in my halloween package and told him he should stick it to his head at work, which led to him telling me a story about his 14 year old self taking one of those little basketball goals with suction cups and sticking the suction cup to his head. Apparently his forehead has a bit of an inset, a divet if you will and the suction cup grabbed on quite nicely. :) Leaving Big Larr with a suction cup hickey on his forehead. hee hee. :)

I went to see the Rumble Jetts at a bar last night, they are a fun band. :) I did some East Coast swing dancing, although I'm not all that good, I had a lot of fun. And if you can't be the best dancers, you can be the ones having a bunch of fun, right??

There was a guy there doing crazy things with his legs and he'd go down on one knee and the girl would be spinning past. That's a terrible description but it was pretty swanky.

And this is a great band to check out Split Lip Rayfield. They're a lot of fun.
